I'm a big fan of technology. If there is ever a chance that powerful, metallic beings will rise to take humanity's place as the primary inhabitance of Earth, I am all about it. Perhaps someday, in a dimly lit, post-apocalyptic-style studio apartment, a young unemployed robot will fail to update his sketch blog on a regular basis.
This was done entirely in Corel Painter IX, mostly using the airbrushes. That software never ceases to amaze me, being both extremely complex and simply intuitive all at once. If you are at all interested in digital painting, and want more than Paintshop Pro, but can't quite afford Adobe Photoshop, Corel Painter is definitely the way to go. Even more so if you have a tablet. In fact, Painter is designed to completely take advantage of a Wacom Tablet's pressure and angle sensitivity. I cannot recommend it enough for anyone inspiring to do art on a computer. Of course, it takes some time getting used to. I remember the first few weeks of using my tablet, I would often look down at my hands and realize I had unconsciously put down my tablet pen, and had my hand on my mouse. Of course, if you really want to spend some money and get a nice toy, check out Wacom's Cintiq. It's actually a 21 inch screen that is also a drawing tablet. Of course, you'll have to drop around $2,500. It would be a very nice luxury.
